I really wish that I could sit here and tell you that we won the Greenwich Youth FIlm Festival.

But the fact of the matter is that we didn’t. We didn’t even win the PSA Category. In fact, we didn’t even place.

Not gonna lie, we were all a little bit shocked. The competition in our category wasn’t really that good and we all definitely thought that we had the best production in the PSA category by a long shot.

But in retrospect, Chase really isn’t a PSA. The problem with Chase is that it doesn’t neatly place in any category; it’s not long enough for a creative entry and it’s not specific enough to be a PSA. But still, it’s a damn good whatever the hell it is.

I am still absolutely proud of 10 AM Productions and I know that we have great potential. I’m really looking forward to what we create next.

Statistics

The international Westport Youth Film Festival had well over 500 submissions, and about 70 were accepted. There are 12 films competing in Chase’s category, which is Social Action.

The 1st Annual Greenwich Youth Film Festival had about 150 submissions.

The odds weren’t exactly in our favor, but we still did it.

Heading over to a Westport Youth Film Festival fundraiser tonight!

It’s a screening of the 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine. Producer Al Brodax will be there to introduce this award-winning work and speak to the audience about its production. The evening will be moderated by Sumner Jules Glitcher, emeritus professor at NYU.

When I ordered the tickets, I got in touch with the director of the festival, who told me that she specifically remembered Chase and looks forward to meeting me today.

Oh, the suspense.

Here’s the general concept for First World Problems: The Movie

Timothy Wright dreams of being a rapper, but feels like he’ll never be “real” because he lives an average suburban, middle class life. He complains to his friends about living too good of a life and secretly wishes that he was “blacker.” One day he wakes up, his world turned upside down. Somehow, he now finds himself living in the projects with less than loving parents. At first he sees this as a blessing, as his lyrics are flowing like never before, but then realizes that perhaps maybe it’s not all worth it.

Upcoming Projects

The Burns 24hr Film Challenge

Status N/A

May 18-19 we will be participating in the Jacob Burns 24hr Film Challenge. It’s pretty straightforward, we have 24 hours to produce a short film. In that time period, we have to work completely from scratch; no outside already completed work can be brought in. We have unlimited access to the Jacob Burns Film Center’s film lab and all their equipment. It will be an action packed 24 hours, with a lot of caffeine.
